Heritage & Museums

In recent years we have begun to work on more contracts that are identifiably part of the Museums and Heritage sector.

This strand of work has benefited enormously from our long-standing relationship with our Museums Associate Emmie Kell who has brought her wealth of experience to the company. Here are some examples of our work.

Geevor Tin Mine(2011)
We are investigating the business case for cultural developments at this heritage mining museum in Cornwall.

Royal Cornwall Museum (2010)
Perfect Moment have been appointed by Royal Cornwall Museum to carry out an initial investigation into how the museum can increase its earned income to counter the impact of expected cuts in grant funding.  Perfect Moment are leading a team which includes Emmie Kell –  Museums and Heritage Sector specialist and Carson Rea a nationally known catering consultant who specialises in venue catering having worked with the Royal Opera House and the National Maritime Museum amongst others.

Museum of British Surfing(2009 - 2010)
Perfect Moment worked with the Museum of British Surfing on a feasibility study and a business plan to create the UK’s first surfing museum following. Subsequently a £250,000 funding package was put in place and a suitable building has been secured.

Porthmeor Studios (2009)
Perfect Moment undertook the work that led to the successful Sea Change award of £900,000 to take forward plans to redevelop and restore the 200 year old Grade II* listed Porthmeor Studios. The complex faces on to the beach and epitomises the connection between the town, fishing industry and local artists. As part of the project, new studios will be created and two of the old fishermen’s cellars will be refurbished. Artists started to arrive in the 1880s, and built their studios on top of the fishermen’s cellars. Since then, Porthmeor has provided workspace for several internationally important artists, including Ben Nicholson, Francis Bacon and Patrick Heron.
The building still provides workspace for fishermen, artists and the St Ives School of Painting, and really defines the history of St Ives. The Borlase Smart Trust has now raised sufficient funding to start work on Phase 1 of the project, and expects building work to start in late 2010

Ilfracombe Sea Front Regeneration (2009)
Perfect Moment worked as lead consultants on a prestigious regeneration contract to create a new vision for the future of Ilfracombe seafront in North Devon.
Our brief was to produce a plan for the seafront that would enable them to secure investment from a variety of funders.

Heartlands (2006)
Perfect Moment helped with the successful early stage project development on Cornwall’s Heartlands Project, part of the Big Lottery Living Landmarks scheme. Heartlands is a vision to transform Pool - the most derelict urban area in Cornwall - into a truly great place to live, work and visit by creating an inspirational cultural landscape which celebrates and reignites its local tradition of innovation, enterprise and creativity.  The project secured £22m, one of only three in the UK to receive funding.
