Paul Richards - consultant: PRINCE 2
Paul Richards, Perfect Moment’s longest-serving Consultant, is a PRINCE2 Registered Practitioner. PRINCE2 - which stands for the latest version of PRojects IN a Controlled Environment - is the de facto standard for project management in the UK and is used and recognized worldwide.
‘Regardless of size or focus, all projects share certain needs,’ explains Paul. ‘They should start by defining exactly what they want to do and how best to do it, and then progress in an organized, controlled and staged way. PRINCE2TM is the project management method designed to achieve this.’
‘It’s process-based, easily tailored and scaleable – so Practitioners can bring it to bear on projects of any size or type. It ensures that everyone considers the essentials, including how to manage risk and quality, and how to control change. And it gives everyone a common language - professionals worldwide can instantly recognize your project’s approach and understand what you’re doing. Couple that with a good team, and you’ve got a winning mix.’
PRINCE2TM is devised by the Office of Government Commerce. Registered Practitioner Certification involves a two-stage examination process, ongoing monitoring and periodic Re-Registration examination.
Gareth Hart - consultant: Open University & SFEDI
Gareth Hart, Perfect Moment’s Third Sector expert, has completed the Open University’s Professional Certificate in Management with a merit grade and has also secured a SFEDI accreditation for business advice with a focus on social enterprises.
Gareth said: “The OU course has really helped me by providing some great theory to underpin many of the things I was doing and also to challenge my existing thinking. I’ve learnt a lot of up-to-date concepts about the management of staff, finances and marketing which will be invaluable in my work.”
The business advice accreditation is through SFEDI which is a nationally recognized scheme to assess the competence of advisers. Gareth said: “The accreditation is based on actual work rather than theory since I was assessed whilst delivering advice sessions to clients. The assessor gave me feedback on certain points and gave me some practical topics to research.”
“It’s great to pass two different types of award - one largely theoretical and the other much more practical. Taken together they will enable me to improve the service I can offer to my clients which are mostly social enterprises and charities.”
